Most restaurant owners consider choosing a prominent location as a top priority of the business. However, a few restaurants have other ideas. We have found six of them in Fort Bonifacio. These restaurants, which serve food that is cooked on order and are thus not canteens, have chosen locations that keep them from plain sight of passer-bys. Some of these hidden restaurants are actually hidden gems and are worth a try.

1. Ramekin

Location: G/F., Fort Victoria Condominium, 5th Ave. cor 23rd St, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City

Tel.: (02)886-8788

Located at the end of 5th Avenue, it may not be very visible from the street, and even when pedestrians see its signage, they are unlikely to know that it is a restaurant. Ramekin serves comfort food like grilled pork chop (P385) and fried chicken (P365), at High Street price and quality.

2. Malcolm’s Deli

Location: Ground Floor, Fairway Tower, 5th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City

Tel.: (02) 556 3188

It is located behind a building at the corner of 5th Avenue and McKinley Road. Its entrance is not visible on 5th Avenue. On the plus side, it has free parking right outside its entrance, so it is convenient if you have a car. With the new BGC Greenway next to it, other residents of Bonifacio West also can access it on foot.  Its strength is in steaks, breakfast meals and sandwiches.

3. Plan B

Location: 2nd Floor, St Luke’s Medical Center, 32nd Street, BGC. Right above Bizu Restaurant

Even if you go to the dining area in St Luke’s Medical Center, you are likely to miss it because it is located on the second floor. In fact, it is so hidden that when we called St. Luke Medical Center’s reception one day in November 2016, she insisted that no such restaurant existed there. We went there on November 15, 2016, and tried out its food, so we are sure that it exists.

Plan B offers typical cafe food like pasta, sandwiches, and espresso drinks. Its prices are quite reasonable, and can be considered as a good-value alternative to Starbucks and other restaurants in St. Luke’s Medical Center BGC, which seem to charge prices at the level of Bonifacio High Street establishments, but in a hospital ambience. We tried its pasta (sausage puttanesca at P280) and pizza (chorizo and spinach pizza at P320) and were pleasantly surprised at the high quality of the ingredients used.

Plan B is also one of the last places that you would expect that offers a wide selection of cheeses and other European delicatessen like proscuitto and parma ham.

Next to it is a Japanese restaurant  called Billiken operated by the same owner which serves ramen and other usual Japanese fare.

4. Seoul Spoon

Location: 2/F, Assi Fresh Plaza, Tuscany, Upper Mckinley Road, McKinley Hill, Taguig City

Tel.: (02) 832 9741

Not many people have been to Tuscany at McKinley Hill. Who would have thought that there is a restaurant on the second floor of a Korean grocery store. It is not a full scale restaurant per se, but it serves many typical Korean dishes like bimbimbop (P120), spicy Korean rice cake (P100) and japchae (P100) at a very good price, and thus it is always full at meal times.

5. Le Jardin French Restaurant

Location: Penthouse, W Fifth Avenue Building, 5th Avenue Corner 32nd Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City

Tel.: 0917 817 6584 / (02) 403 3049

On the top floor of an office building. There is no sign outside, or inside the building. Getting to the restaurant requires going through a guarded lobby. It must be a special meal. Otherwise most people will not bother to make that much effort to go there. However, those in the know will tell you that this fine-dining French restaurant is one of the best places for making marriage proposals, what with its romantic ambience and great food, which is worth the steep price that they charge.

6. 7107 Culture + Cuisine

Location: Treston International College, 32nd Street Corner, C5 Road, University Parkway District, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City

Tel.: (02) 616 7336 / 0917 807 8023

If you have no business going to University Parkway on the northern part of Bonifacio Global City, you would probably have not heard of Treston International College, let alone seen the restaurant located on its ground floor. But if you want to look for some creativity in food without spending a fortune, this is a “must-try” place.

Even though it is branded as a Filipino restaurant, their dishes are not traditional. Many of them are Filipino dishes fused with foreign ideas. There is chicken inasal pasta (chicken pieces cooked with inasal flavor and served on creamy pasta) at P255, Tonkatsu Bicol X (pork chop with Bicol express sauce) at P370, chick chick bang bang that uses Korean adobo sauce (P370), among other whimsical dishes. Then there is Pinoy pancakes, which are bibingka inspired and cost P265 for 3 pieces. The vibrant decor and eclectic chair collection complete the fanciful experience.
