Corporate Social Responsibility is a term we see in many corporate annual reports. How far the spirit of CSR is embedded in the DNA of a company is not so easy to figure out, until you see how their leaders expound their project concepts and how employees and outsiders are supported in delivering the company’s CSR projects.

Last month, (Sep 17), Aboitiz Group hosted an event called Aboitiz Advancing Business & Communities (ABC) Summit at SM Aura SMX Convention Center. The event featured several Aboitiz and non-Aboitiz stakeholders who came together to discuss CSR and sustainability.

Among the activities held, one was a sustainability workshop that tackled radical ideation and radical prototyping that was participated by Aboitiz team leaders and members. Featured photo shows participants break out into groups and engage in the sustainability workshop.

Another activity was an ABC Summit panel dubbed “Championing Sustainability,” moderated by ANC anchor Karen Davila.

In another session, a panel discussion dubbed “ABC Talks”  was held and moderated by ANC anchor Mimi Ong. It was participated by leaders of several Aboitiz business units.

Later on that day, Aboitiz Equity Ventures Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Officer Jojo Guingao discussed the Aboitiz Corporate Center’s agile workplace concept on the 9th and 15th floors of NAC Tower, Bonifacio Global City, and introduced KINDer, a crowdfunding app platform that allows users to support worthy causes in a convenient and engaging manner.

KINDer was built by Aboitiz Foundation to celebrate its 30th birthday. We visited https://kinder.aboitiz.com/ and found that it contains a number of charitable campaigns for worthy causes. The platform can be viewed as a way by the Aboitiz Group to invite like-minded entities to join them in supporting causes that the Group endears.

It is evident that this company, headquartered in the Fort, means business when it comes to discharging its Corporate Social Responsibility. CSR is not just a slogan, or is simply about donating a little money to a charity. It is about putting its heart and soul to the concept, a concept that expects corporations to contribute to sustainable development by delivering economic, social and environmental benefits for all stakeholders.
