Every week, there are numerous events being held in Fort Bonifacio that can provide us with useful information for our career or business development. That is why, you should check out our Events pages from time to time!
One event that will be of particular interest to those who are in the tourism industry is the Tourism and Hospitality Tech Summit and Expo to be held at the SMX Convention Center at SM Aura Premier on November 23 and 24, 2018.
At the press launch held on November 8, we got a glimpse of what one can expect from this event.
Colin Christie, Director of Digital Transformation, Enderun Colleges, the organizer as well as one of the speakers of this event, talked about the need for industry players to understand the visitor’s travel process before investing in technology that could enhance the experience of visitors. For example, a visitor would do research, make bookings before arriving in the destination. He/she would then go around and stay in a destination, and would share travel experience with friends after the visit. Only after finding opportunities to improve the visitor’s experience at any of these “touch points” should one look for technologies that could deliver the improvement.
He will cover this aspect of tourism in his talk on “Revolutionizing the Guest Experience” on the first day of the event.
On the second day of the event, Mr. Christie will talk about how big data and AI can help industry players understand the needs of locals and tourists alike.
Two other speakers of the event also briefly described how their businesses could help hotels and resorts enhance their customers’ experience.
Mr. Ibrahim Bernardo, Chief Immersion Officer, I Am Cardboard PH, Inc., talked about his business journey, from being a traveler to becoming a founder of a Virtual Reality product company. He said that the growth in demand for VR product currently came mostly from businesses that wanted to demonstrate the features of their products, be it real estate or resorts, at conferences. He saw big potential of VR products in the tourism industry.
Mr. Alistair Israel, CEO of Shore Suites, Inc., shared his personal check-in experience at resorts in the Philippines, and said that it was now affordable for even small hotels to have a powerful check-in and reservation system that could greatly enhance the check-in experience of travellers. His topic at the event is “The Tourism App Economy”.
