One Bonifacio High Street is a new mall recently (August 2018) opened between 5th and 3rd Avenue, across Shangri-la at the Fort hotel. As of early September, about 5% of its shops have opened. Nonetheless, we managed to visit the first three eating places opened there and give you a sneak peek of the mall.
The mall is four-storey high with a basement. Many shops will be restaurants, judging from the signs displayed so far. The top floors have a balcony overlooking the park between the hotel and the mall.
Cafe Mediterranean

This branch of the Greek restaurant group was the first establishment opened in the mall. It is a casual dining place with colorful lights that fit well with the Mediterranean theme. We tried their baklava, a popular Greek dessert, and can say that the group has managed to maintain their good Greek food standard in this branch.

Looking at the interior design, we were not sure what kind of cuisine this restaurant offered. The waiter explained to us that the restaurant owner and chef of Chino is a Filipino guy who studied and worked in kitchens in the USA, and his nick name was “Chino” because he was an Asian. The cuisine is Mexican dishes made with Japanese techniques and ingredients. This sounded very intriguing, and being in the mood for food adventure, we went for it.
We tried several dishes: Market fish ceviche (P595), Kataifi shrimp (P645), Clams aji amarillo (P780), Grilled pork ribs (full) (P1,200), and Carnitas Enchilada (P845).

To be honest, none of them looked like the Mexican food that we are used to. They also tasted different, but in a good way. There was more citrius flavor to the dishes, and less oily and cheesy.

We were actually not very keen to join the long line, but our little boss wanted to have the experience (the queuing up part included). So we tried its banana pudding, a cookie, and a box of mini cupcakes. The kids loved them. We adults are not supposed to eat so much sugary stuff, so we liked it but will not crave for it, and the price is also not very pocket friendly. The craze with banana pudding is a puzzle. It is an easy to make dessert that tastes and feels like baby food.
But they do have a wide range of other desserts, and they look damn good on the display. So we may try different items over time, after exercise.
There were very few tables inside the shop, so most people buy for take out or eating in the park.
