McKinley West is located along Lawton Avenue, near Bonifacio Global City. It is a new planned township owned by Megaworld Corporation. Vehicles going from BGC to NAIA will pass through it because one of its main roads is used as a detour to decongest Lawton Avenue.
If you go there now, you will see several towers of office buildings and an open parking area, and not much else. It is not a place that you will normally think of when you want to chill. But hidden in one of the few retail spaces amidst the office towers is a cafe/bakery that we have recently visited and may visit again.
This bakery cafe, Perry’s, is named after the deceased pet pug of one of the five owners.
We went there when we found a discount deal on one of the restaurant deal sites. So we decided to try it out for lunch.
The place has a modern-classic European interior. It is very spacious and occupies a corner space on the second floor of an office building. On that Monday lunch time, it was virtually empty.
We ordered Stout Glazed Beef Brisket (P370) and White Fish Fillet with Tomato Confit (P370).

Stout is a strong beer, but our beef did not make us tipsy. The beef brisket slices were actually very lean, tender and flavorful. The black rice, which is the same as the purple rice used in Thai desserts, was well cooked and easy to eat, not too heavy or hard. Our only gripe was that the vegetables were a little bit too oily for our liking.
The same nag applies to the fish dish, which was plentiful and tasted good. The low price means that you will only get cream dory, not snapper or grouper, but it was decent. The black mountain rice hidden under the fish is of course a premium rice.

For drinks, we only ordered a tumeric tea latte (P160). It is mainly a milk drink that contains a small amount of tumeric, so it was not too spicy. The tumeric latte belongs to the milktea section of the tea menu. It has a number of other exotic teas. Under the Iced Tea section, it has White Peach freshly brewed iced tea which is good for sharing at P250, Berry Blast at P275, for example.
We ordered scones (P110 for two pieces) as well. The scones were moist and soft, not dry like usual British scone. They were OK. We also took out some cookies, which our kid liked.
Overall, we liked the place. The place has good ambience, the food is good and the price is affordable. Service was acceptable. We will certainly go back again for the food and drinks, and the thought that we will be supporting an independent cafe which has no brand recognition to rely upon makes us feel good as well.
